Pioneer: Instrumental 6 track EP
6 Instrumental Tracks from the first time in a recording studio.
These are the instrumental versions mastered at the time of recording in December 1980 at Forest Glen Studios on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. 6 songs were recorded with the help of the jazz influenced rhythm section of Andy Tainsch on Bass, Bob Welsh on keyboards, Ricky Lloyd on drums and Mungo Coats on guitar. I was totally surprised with the 'twist' they received from these top musicians.
A re-release of this EP is planned for early 2021.

Being the first time in a recording studio I was stunned at the fact that 3 musicians could take 6 songs that they had never heard before and record the rhythm
tracks for them in 4 hours. I was even more pleased with the result, and still enjoy having a listen, and I'm sure you will too. And no I am not uploading the vocal versions!

The story behind the song
D'Aguilar Highway
I had been on it before, the first time I had come to Queensland, and now I was on my way back. It was just past midnight and I had the road all to myself.
So it was a great drive, through Kilcoy in Queenslands South East, and the song just came along for the ride.

The Holden FJ was my first car, I was never one for total convention, so was ready to dress up the car with my own ideas. My first car, my first recording and hence the
title Pioneer. The other car is my Dad's first car, a Nash I believe, and of course my Mum.
